Miz Mooz
In early 2001 Miz Mooz was born as a private label brand, carried exclusively in a small chain of stores in New York City and San Francisco. The creative experts behind Miz Mooz hoped to design exciting and new styles in a 'me too' market. Over the next three years Miz Mooz created a buzz in the shoe industry, and many small boutiques began to seek the fresh, unique collection.
Flash forward to 2009. Miz Mooz is now available in the best boutiques, specialty shops, and department stores throughout the U.S. and Canada, and has become a brand recognized for high quality, affordable, and most importantly, fun shoes. We continue to make our shoes by hand, designing with a unique and joyful sensibility, and are committed to bringing you eclectic, fashionable and comfortable shoes year after year.
Looking ahead, we are most excited about expanding our presence in Europe and Asia. For our international fans, we will be bringing our shoes closer to home. Starting in Spring 2010, Miz Mooz will be available in select boutiques in Belgium and Serbia, and the following season should bring even more places throughout the world.
How Are Shoes are Made:
The life of a shoe is an exciting one, bringing together many different elements from all over the globe. Born as a drawing in our New York office, the 'shoe' (concept) moves to Italy, where experienced Italian shoemakers design the last (this is a l=piece of wood that gives shape to the shoe, a skeleton) from a piece of wood. Next, the last moves to our factories in Asia or Mexico. Materials are sourced from the high quality tanneries and manufacturers, the pattern is cut, and the shoe begins to take shape. Once approved, the shoe is produced and sent to boutiques throughout the world. From there it ends up on the feet and in the closets of our faithful following.
Miz Mooz shoes are by no means 'perfect'. Every pair we produce is handcrafterd, using hte highest quality hand-worked leathers. This finishing often results in subtle variations in color, design, and texture. Rather than being imperfections, these variations highlight the unique and natural characteristics of the leather used. They are what gives each pair of shoes its authenticity and character, and it is these traits that make Miz Mooz stand out.
